Global Meltdown, End of the World or simply a Lack of Authentic Leadership? Time for Change.

Travelling today, I see the news on the internet that shares have, once again, plummeted because of poor confidence,  global growth forecasts are revised, British unions talk about strikes and Greek unions continue to strike to maintain ‘the old order’ of a massive unregulated public sector and enormous tax deficits.

But it’s not the cost of borrowing that is creating this ‘roller-coaster’ drama on the markets but a lack of confidence.  Stimulating Government spending is hardly going to lead to growth as the public sector struggles.  The Consumer continues to cut back on spending, so there’s hardly much stretch possible there.  And that just leaves Corporate spending – one place where stretch is possble and where Government, not only in the UK but throughout Europe and the US, can step in and stimulate activity and growth.

Lack of Authentic Leadership

So is this really global meltdown or the end of the world?  Or is it simply a lack of authentic leadership – from politicians and corporate executives who really have the potential to stimulate growth and lift us out of ‘the doldrums’, but refuse or neglect to take action?

Resilience

Resilience is all about the ability to recover and bounce back from every event that affects us and our businesses – and indeed to bounce back from a lack of confidence in the markets.

But if our mindset is a negative one, with a can’t do or won’t do attitude or with a defeatist voice, then perhaps some new and authentic leaders should step up to the plate!  It’s Not the End, or the Beginning of the End – it’s simply the End of the Beginning.

New leaders stand up and be counted!  Time for a mindset change!
