Motivational Maps

How are Motivational Maps different from other psychometrics?

Nobody gets out of bed in the morning because of their personality. They do because of their Motivation.

The Motivational Map is not a personality test nor a psychometric profiling tool. It is a self-perception inventory. Organisations and businesses use the Motivational Map to help inform processes such as Career Management, Recruitment and Selection, Talent Management and Performance Management. It can be used in Personal Development, Team Performance, Rewards Strategies and Appraisal Systems.

The original Motivational Map was created by James Sale through his extensive research into human motivation and the study of three primary sources:

1. Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs

2. Edgar Schein’s Career Anchors

3. The Enneagram, a personality profiling tool.

How does it work?

Your happiness and success at work is partly determined by whether or not your core ‘Motivations’ are being met. These Motivations are not a conscious decision, but rather emerge from your self-concept, beliefs, expectations and personality.

Skills x Motivation = Performance

Skills‘ is only a single piece of the puzzle. If the elephant in the room, Motivation, is not being acccessed, then Performance and Engagement are a struggle. In worse cases, people may leave teams and organisations.

How will this work in practice?

Email us with your thoughts and we will schedule a call for an online discussion about your needs and the challenges you are wanting to resolve.

If we see that Mapping motivation will bring value to your organisational challenges or individuals, then one of our trained practitioners will schedule a mapping exercise followed by a feedback session.

Our practitioners are also trained Corporate and Executive leadership coaches who can support further development coaching sessions for your teams and individuals as needed.
